House Bill 29: Prime Ministers Questions Act

Purpose: To assist with cabinet transparency and getting information to the citizens.

Article 1: Briefing
1. The Prime Minister must hold a briefing session, officially known as Prime Minister’s questions, every two weeks.
1.2. If the Prime Minister is unable to attend, he must provide a valid reason to the House and reschedule a date within the same week.
2. The House will be responsible for deciding the questions they will ask, using whichever methodology to acquire these questions that they wish.
2.1. The Speaker of the House will be responsible for leading the session on the House’s side, and arranging the order of questions.
3. The session must last one hour.
3.1. If the Prime Minister is unable to attend for the full hour, he must provide a valid reason to the House and attend the amount of time that is agreed.
4. As stated in 2.2, the Speaker of the House must lead the session on the House side
4.1. If the Speaker of the House is unable to attend a session, he must delegate his responsibilities to the Deputy Speaker of the House.
4.2. If the Deputy Speaker is unable to attend, the Speaker may delegate his responsibilities of the session to any member of the House.
5. If the Prime Minister is unwilling to reschedule, he may delegate the briefing to the Deputy Prime Minister, but this is only in the event of 1.2.

This bill is constitutional. I see this bill as a way to let the government be more free-flowing. I feel like it will make the House and the Prime Minister be on the same page.

This bill is constitutional. Though there is an error concerning section 2.2, the content presented in the bill is legal.
